Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra on four-city tour
as part of the UK's CHINA NOW festival

The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO), the Cultural Ambassador of Hong Kong, is invited to perform at four renowned venues in UK as part of the CHINA NOW festival, the largest festival of Chinese culture ever to take place in the UK. Under the baton of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Yan Huichang, the 85-member orchestra will perform at the Royal Festival Hall in London (14/3), The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester (15/3) the Town Hall, Birmingham (17/3) and The Sage in Gateshead (18/3)B

The Orchestra was founded in 1977 and has commissioned over 1,700 original compositions and arrangements. The HKCO has received international critical acclaim for its commitment to the promotion and development of large-scale Chinese orchestral works and has been awarded "The Most Outstanding Achievement in Advancing Contemporary Chinese Music" by the ISCM World Music Days Hong Kong (2002) and "The Most Outstanding Achievement in Advancing Asian Contemporary Music" by the Asian Composers League (2007).
