If you’ve ever listened to the radio and thought: ‘Why does no-one play ...?’ or ‘Doesn't anyone ever talk about ...?’ – come and make it happen yourself on ICR. There are different ways you can do it: Your own weekly programme
If you’d like your own regular programme, you’ll need to take ICR's Basic Radio Skills Course first. It's free! We change the programme schedule every 6 months, in March and September, and that’s when you can start a new show – as long as you’re technically proficient in the studio and your show content meets ICR policies on music and speech. Overnight shows Our overnight shows are all pre-recorded, and anyone can make one. You don’t need to have taken the Basic Radio Skills Course first. If you’ve got an idea, and the material, we’ll help you with the technical stuff. Shows can be 1 or 2 hours long, and while many people focus on a particular artist or theme, that’s not essential. All we do ask is that any music you play fits the ICR music policy. Interviews and features
We’re always looking for people to go out and about to record interviews or make features, about anything from local bands to Jobseeker’s Allowance. Most of these pieces go into the Breakfast Shows, but there are opportunities on other programmes too. We’ll give you any training you need. |
